The five steps

Setting up Pealboard is five steps. The first four take a few minutes. The fifth is Pealboard reading what is already in your repositories, and how long it takes depends on how much is there.

1. Sign up — create an account with an email address and a password, or with GitHub.
2. Create a workspace — the workspace is the thing your colleagues join and the thing that is billed.
3. Connect GitHub — install the Pealboard GitHub App on your organization.
4. Choose repositories — all of them, or a subset. You can change this later on GitHub.
5. The first sync — Pealboard reads the issues, comments, labels, milestones and projects that already exist.

What you need before you start

• An email address you can receive mail at.
• Permission to install a GitHub App on your organization. On GitHub this is the owner role, or a member whose installation request an owner approves. If you do not have it, step 3 sends a request to an owner instead of completing.

You do not need a payment card. A new workspace starts on the Free plan, and the 14-day trial of Team needs no card either.

What you do not have to do

• You do not import anything. Pealboard reads your repositories as they are.
• You do not ask engineers to sign up. They keep working in GitHub, they are never billed, and nothing about their workflow changes.
• You do not create issues again. The issues you already have appear as they are, with their comments, labels, milestones and project field values.
